Women's Health

As women we have special needs. Often we spend so much time taking care of others that we forget to take care of ourselves. It really is so important to take time out for yourself, to give yourself proper nourishment you need to do the demanding job of being a Jewish wife or mother.   According to Dr Elson Haas 'Most women do best on a low to moderate calorie diet that includes a good amount of protein and vegetables, some wholegrains and fairly few fruits and sweet foods.'  However, there is no one-size-fits-all as far as this is concerned. We need to make sure that we get a compact, nourishing diet of high quality foods and listen to our bodies demands, especially during times when our needs are changing.  Simple things such as taking time to sit down for regular meals are a good start.

I also find one of the most important aspects of getting everything we need is to plan in advance.  This really helps because it ensures variety and balance and also takes off a lot of stress when preparing meals for others.  I have found that this aspect of attending to our health is often neglected.  Most women benefit greatly from taking supplements.
