Health for Older Ladies

Many problems that are taken for granted as being a natural part of aging are the result of nutritional deficiency caused by poor diet and poor absorption from the diet into the system.  The good news about this is that eating well can have dramatic effects on the health of older people.  Many older people simply don't eat enough, so not only are they deficient in calories but in other nutrients too.  There should be a focus on nutrient-dense foods in particular the following:

  • Drink plenty of clean (filtered) water
  • Eat fiber foods such as vegetables and wholegrains and if necessary take a fiber supplement such as ground flax seeds or psyllium
  • Eat green leafy vegetables every day.
  • Eat wholesome soups, stews and casseroles.
  • Eat regular meals
  • Take a vitamin and mineral supplement specifically designed for older people plus an Omega3 supplement.
  • Excercise

It is also very important to eat quality fats.   Hydrochloric acid can be taken before meals and digestive enzymes afterwards to promote absorbtion of nutrients.  Most people in their later years would do well to have a complete nutritional evaluation so that their diets may be tailored for their specific needs.
